About Us

Representing over 70,000 individuals, Sport Newfoundland and Labrador (SportNL) is a professional non-profit membership-based organization that is central to the development and delivery of organized sport in Newfoundland and Labrador - for everyone.

To strengthen sport delivery in our province, in partnership with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, we work collaboratively with our members to provide administrative and communications support, as well as program development and training support, for all parties engaged in the delivery of organized sport in our province - ensuring they have the most up-to-date resources and are educated on the ever changing landscape of best practices for sport delivery and organized sport today.

Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Sport Development Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for overall messaging and marketing for Sport Newfoundland and Labrador by developing, implementing, and evaluating the organization's communications plan.

Working closely with all team members and across all programs, you will lead the development and implementation of an effective communications plan that aligns with and supports the success of the organization's strategic plan and member needs. As the sole individual on the Communications team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of all social media content, website content, and all marketing materials to engage members and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will work closely with members to gather insight and feedback to ensure we are supporting their needs and implementing changes where required.

You know your audience and understand the corporate world of communication - easily adapting your lens to the needs of the organization to make the most impact. You are an innovative problem solver who not only comes to the table with solutions but goes above and beyond to implement and deliver, providing exceptional member engagement and enabling Sport NL to successfully deliver on its purpose.

Ideal Candidate

· Bachelor's degree, diploma or certification in marketing, communications, or relevant experience.

· 5+ years' experience in a marketing or communications role.

· Proven track record of creating and delivering successful marketing and communication strategies.

· Demonstrated experience in web content management and social media content creation.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong project management, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
