We invite you to be part of our evolutionThe OpportunityWe are currently seeking two Principal Resource Geologist to join our Mineral Resources projects department in Toronto. This is a permanent position.This position will provide technical services on advanced exploration projects, demonstrate knowledge about key components of mineral resource evaluation and interact with related disciplines. Provide ongoing effective communication to the Project Management on FEL 1 mine studies. Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Responsible to execute and/or review technical work of mineral resource estimation, including wireframing, block model estimation, database management and quality control of data collection (QAQC) on FEL 1 projects.
  • Responsible to support advanced exploration projects (phase 4, FEL1) providing technical, economical and risk evaluations to support future investment decisions on projects.
  • Responsible to define the appropriate drilling program for advanced projects.
  • Support technical work on mineral resource estimation on FEL 2 and FEL 3 projects, as required
Main Challenges:
  • To deliver FEL1 studies under budget and timeframe, following global guidelines.
  • Support FEL 2 and FEL3 mineral resource evaluation, as required
  • To work under pressure with the triple constraint - scope, time and cost, balancing throughout the project development of these dimensions. Provide the tools and techniques that enable the project team to organize their work to meet these constraints.
  • Develop and disclosure mineral resource estimates in compliance with international codes and legislations (ANM/DNPM Brazil, SEC USA, CIMM Canada, JORC Australasia) and Vale's Guidelines.
  • Perform technical Due Diligences for mineral deposits and mine acquisitions in order to evaluate the mineral resources and associated risks, as required
  • Define and support the investment on infill drilling plan for projects in FEL 1
  • Foster and maintain a network of contacts with mining community to improve and advance technology in the extraction of ores. Be aware of innovations which could be considered on FEL 1 underground mine project.
  • Assist the project manager, at least one of the sub processes through to being the owner's rep during the demonstration stage to assure that project meet the scope, schedule and budget.
  • Provide training and mentoring as required for less experienced personnel within the group as required.
  • Provide ongoing technical advice and assistance to Vale mining projects internationally as required

About YouEducation:
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Required certification in P. Geo or P.Eng.

Experience:
  • 11 to 15 years of relevant mineral resourcing experience.
Skills:
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain effective and engaging conversations and trust with all Project Management to become integrated within the teams
  • Strong abilities with mine design and working experience with Geostatistic Software would be an asset
  • Sensitivity to environmental requirements
  • Good initiative, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a multidisciplinary environment
