Position description

Mounties Athletics is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill a 4-month contract (August to December) position as an Assistant Athletic Therapist. Our athletic therapy clinic provides rehabilitation and on-field preventative care to the varsity athletes in the following sports: football, soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball, badminton, and swimming. The clinic provides a busy, diverse, self-directed work environment for its employees. It is critical that employees of this institution are able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment that is continually changing and requires the development of new skills frequently. This role may require nontraditional hours, often for extended periods outside the course of a typical working day.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical assessment and treatment of injuries
  • Functional sport specific rehabilitation programs in conjunction with treatments
  • Correspondence with other members of the health care team
  • Availability for outdoor games and practice coverage as assigned which will involve evenings and weekends.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of our Student Athletic Therapists

Qualifications/skills

  • Certified Athletic Therapist - recent graduates of an accredited school of athletic therapy or those attempting the CATA national certification exam in June are welcome to apply.
  • Possess a current First Responder and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and various online medical software programs
  • Show a passion for Athletic Therapy and its role in the Sports Medicine spectrum.
  • Punctual for games, practices, and appointments
  • Display independence and initiative and abide by the CATA code of ethics.
  • Maintain professionalism inside and outside the clinic as a representative of Mounties Athletics and Mount Allison University
  • Effective communication with staff and student-athletes
