Our Team

Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Coordinator to join our Engineering & Reliability Team in Long Harbour.

As the Senior QA/QC Coordinator, you are responsible for the review of the Quality Program, procedures, documentation, and records. You will be responsible to ensure proper review and acceptance of contractor's QC program including verification of effective QC Program implementation by conducting quality surveillance and audits.

In this position, you will:

  • Be committed to the goal of Zero Harm to people, the workplace, our community, and the environment.

  • Prepare repair reports, inspection reports, and other inspection documents;

  • Have working knowledge of welding processes and non-destructive examination techniques (RT, UT, PT, MT, Eddy Current, IRIS, etc.);

  • Complete in-service equipment inspection assessments utilizing visual and non-destructive examination techniques;

  • Assist maintenance in repair strategies by assessing the equipment's condition and necessary repairs, issuing repair requests to, co-developing welding repair and general repair strategies with engineering and supporting the successful management of equipment integrity;

  • Focus on identifying equipment condition, assist in determining failure modes and effects and assist engineering in defining corrective actions;

  • Assist in determining the appropriate disposition to nonconformance, ensuring that the appropriate corrective action to prevent recurrence is deployed with discipline;

  • Act as owner inspector for O.U.P. certified repairs and piping construction;

  • Verify proper storage, preservation, maintenance of all received material and equipment. Ensure material tracking and equipment logs are always up to date;

About You

Education

  • Post Secondary education in Welding Engineering Technician/Technologist or Mechanical Engineering Technologist;

  • National Board Commission (In-service) Inspector Certification is a requirement (or will be required to acquire once in role);
  • Certification in C.Tech or C.E.T, API 510, API 570, API 653, NBIC, Level 2 CWB preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years' experience with hands-on technical maintenance work and/or supervision in a complex industrial environment preferred;

  • Experience with SAP an asset;

  • Knowledge of Service NL, Public Safety Act;

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating maintenance work planning activities an asset;

  • Quality Auditing experience based on ISO 9001-2000/ISO 19011 standards.

  • Able to build and maintain strong positive relationships across multiple work groups.
