The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on twelve steps that range from $42.16 - $62.37 per hour. New NSCC Faculty may receive up to a maximum of five steps for relevant occupational experience. New NSCC Faculty may receive up to an additional four steps for full-time equivalent years of instructional experience (instructional experience is defined as teaching post-secondary). The maximum a new NSCC Faculty can expect to receive is nine steps or $57.11 per hour.

This is a Casual teaching opportunity, meaning the course may be delivered in person or asynchronously online, using a flexible delivery schedule (it could be delivered once per week in the evening for approximately one semester or it may be delivered on full weekdays, Monday to Friday, for a shorter duration. The asynchronous online delivery would require the faculty to very regularly monitor class progress and respond to students in a timely fashion.

Responsabilités

As a member of the School of Business faculty team, you will:

  • Provide theoretical and practical instruction in Quality Assurance, within the Marine Essentials project.
  • This course is an introduction to quality assurance in marine manufacturing. Content will cover efficient processes for improvement to enhance operations, ensure reliability of systems and minimize downtime, errors, and defects. Additionally, contents may include monitoring, inspecting, and proposing measures to correct or improve an organization's final products to meet established quality standards
  • Collaboratively deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners who are or strive to be working in the shipbuilding and marine manufacturing sector. This will include preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace) and classroom technology.
  • Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in your classroom, shops, and labs.
  • Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and to continually develop your understanding of 21st century teaching and learning practices. This position may involve different delivery modalities (e.g., in-class, online, blended online/in-class), off-site instruction and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related fieldand experience and/or certification in Quality Assurance. Previous experience and/or Certificate or Diploma in Adult Education would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of five years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience with Quality Assurance in a marine manufacturing environment. Occupational experience that includes experience in a supervisory capacity; evaluating, monitoring, assessing and advising will be considered an asset.
  • You have working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of Quality Assurance which may include Root Cause Analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, FMEA, DMAIC, ISO and others.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory standards in relation to Quality Assurance and Marine Manufacturing.

  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.

  • You have demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Brightspace and Mircosoft Teams.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience, including multi-media technologies and a variety of platforms that will engage students in online and blended learning.
  • Ideally, you have related experience in delivery of educational programs or training to adults.
  • You have knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and occupation-specific safety practices.
