The Opportunity
As part of our Senior Leadership Team, you are an experienced strategic thinker who can connect with the public, third-party stakeholders, government, and our regulator. As the Company spokesperson and a trusted advisor to the executive team, you will provide oversight and direction on all matters pertaining to corporate communications and external affairs, including government relations.
Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic leadership in all Stakeholder Relations and Communications areas. You will oversee the development and execution of Newfoundland Power's brand, external and internal communications, and strong stakeholder partnerships. Community engagement is also vital to this position, with the successful candidate also assuming responsibility for our charitable investment program. You will lead a dynamic public affairs team in executing strategies and delivering results.
Your qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or related area. You have 10-15 years of progressive public relations or corporate communications experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role. A Master's Degree or knowledge of regulated utility environments will be considered an asset.
Superior communications skills and proven success in strategy and media relations are essential. You must be comfortable at the podium or in front of a camera with a keen ability to make complex issues easy to understand for various audiences.
The ideal candidate takes the initiative and demonstrates excellent judgment. Dealing with ambiguity, adapting to change, and balancing competing priorities are crucial to success. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, creative-thinking, and experienced public affairs leader with a proven record of accomplishment of effective strategy development. The ability to quickly study and understand new technical and policy issues is essential.
