Role Description
The Senior Estimator will develop innovative and competitive approaches to execute the steel scope on complex projects in the ICI, infrastructure repair and design-build markets. In this role, you will develop and create optimized and detailed plans for the execution of the scope of work being tendered, working collaboratively with various stakeholders and industry experts to ensure that potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs and timelines are minimized. You will also develop deep relationships with industry partners and suppliers, and mentor and support the team of Estimators working with you.

When you join Marid, you join an engaged, supportive team of industry experts who are passionate about what they do. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working on interesting and meaningful projects;
  • Applying a strong sense of constructability towards solving problems;
  • Assess factors such as design complexity, site conditions, procurement challenges, and labor productivity to anticipate risks, communicate those findings to the appropriate stakeholders, and work with them to develop mitigation strategies and contingencies;
  • Evaluate different materials, construction methods, and design alternatives to improve efficiency while maintaining structural integrity.

Your Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are a natural problem-solver and people-person who enjoys developing trusting relationships with stakeholders in the industry. Organized and analytically minded, you are a self-starter with an eye for detail. You take great pride in your work and have demonstrated experience successfully completing estimates on large and complex construction projects. Lastly, you are excited to join a collaborative and welcoming team, and to contribute to Marid's legacy as a premier provider of steel solutions.

Your qualifications include:

  • A deep understanding of construction processes, means and methods;
  • Effective problem-solving skills;
  • 10+ years of relevant estimating experience in the construction industry;
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e., Engineering), or a combination of education and relevant industry experience;
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, under tight timelines, in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong communication and leadership skills (verbal and written), to effectively lead the estimating team and work with suppliers.
