We're proud to partner with JCL in their search for an experienced, dynamic and self-motivated Equipment Manager to join their team in Corner Brook! Reporting to the CEO, the Equipment Manager holds the responsibility for supervising all facets of the construction equipment fleet, guaranteeing its optimal performance, maintenance, and utilization. The Equipment Manager is tasked with efficiently leading the maintenance team, ensuring the safe, timely, and cost-effective maintenance and repair of all company equipment resources. Additionally, they are proactively making recommendations concerning the acquisition, disposal, and major repairs of equipment.

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and strategic planning for the maintenance team to drive operational excellence.
  • Manage and maintain the company's construction equipment fleet, including procurement, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Monitor equipment usage and implement cost-saving strategies to maximize efficiency.
  • Coordinate equipment deployment for various projects, ensuring alignment with project needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, utilization rates, and maintenance activities.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and conduct performance reviews for maintenance staff, providing coaching and mentoring.
  • Develop training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team.
  • Champion business excellence projects and initiatives, supporting new business bidding projects.
  • Enforce the Company's Quality Assurance Program to ensure operational excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment by demonstrating positive leadership qualities.

What You Will Need:

  • 10+ years' experience as a seasoned Heavy Equipment Manager or 5+ years' experience as a Mechanical or Civil Engineer, proficient in managing maintenance operations and possessing comprehensive knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics and construction project requirements.
  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, organizational prowess, and multitasking abilities, with a proven track record of effectively leading teams and driving operational efficiency.
  • Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills, enabling the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, facilitating clear and effective communication with team members, senior management, and external parties.
  • Proficiency in interpersonal skills, fostering positive working relationships and effective collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment, adept at managing competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Possession of ISO, LEAN, or SIX SIGMA certifications is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for this role.
