Rate of Pay: $17.00/hour

Hours: 35 hours weekly

Responsabilités

Do you enjoy working with children ages 8-13? Do you have a love for Information Technology such as Coding, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security and other IT related topics? Then we want you to join North End Experiences as our camp facilitator!

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Student facilitator to join our team. As the Student Facilitator for our Information Technology Camp in Halifax, you will play a crucial role in providing an exceptional experience for our students. This is a temporary/seasonal position from approximately June 3rd - August 30th, 2024.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate logistics: You will be responsible for organizing and coordinating various aspects of the Coding Camp, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and equipment setup.

2. Student management: Assist with student registration, orientation, and tracking attendance. Provide support and guidance to students throughout the camp, ensuring a positive and engaging learning environment.

3. Curriculum support: Collaborate with the camp coordinator to ensure the successful delivery of the coding curriculum. Help troubleshoot technical issues and provide additional assistance to students when needed.

4. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and respect among campers.

5. Team collaboration: Work closely with the camp coordinator, instructors, and other staff members to ensure the camp's overall success. Collaborate on special projects, brainstorm ideas for improvement, and actively contribute to the camp's growth.

6. Instruction and Facilitation: Deliver engaging and interactive instructional sessions on various information technology topics, such as coding, robotics, cybersecurity, game development, web design, or computer hardware.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate (2024) or currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in a related field (Computer Science, Education, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with students, parents, and staff members.
  • Passion for coding or technology and working with students.
  • Knowledge of coding concepts and languages is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience working with children or in a camp setting is an asset.
  • Availability to work during the summer months and the flexibility to accommodate camp-related activities outside of regular working hours.
