Our Team

As part of the All Mines Services Team, the iROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre) is a critical multi-year cross functional deployment of process and business system improvements integrated with technological implementation identified within the IT roadmap. The iROC Project brings forward both productivity and production improvements at our deployment sites.


The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an iROC Project Specialist to join our iROC – All Mines Services Team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

The Specialist, iROC Project is responsible to develop, deliver and lead the deployment of applicable processes, toolsets and technical business returns while incorporating technology deliverable advancements. Fundamental for the successful implementation of iROC across North Atlantic Mines and the role is accountable to establish foundational deployment processes, outputs and objectives while conducting technical assessments for the integration of each mine within the North Atlantic Mines Operation.

The position is accountable for:

  • Follow Vale's Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards.
  • Ensure iROC project deployment is adhering to and incorporating Vale's VPS business process standards, procedures and using system applications and tools in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for the creation of iROC processes, governance, and data reporting systems for analysis and continuous divisional mine improvements.
  • Responsible for developing, adhering to, and executing deployment schedule in an agile fashion related to technological solution delivery.
  • Refining iROC processes as technology installations are implemented and validated.
  • Imbedding systems and processes to strengthen the integrity and reliability of iROC data which is to be provided to mine technical planning, scheduling, safety and production.
  • Responsible for engagement with key stakeholders at deployment sites and to ensure a positive, successful and sustainable iROC implementation.
  • Provide support, training, development and upscaling with key stakeholders during iROC deployment phases.
  • Write and edit documents such as the iROC Management Operating System (MOS), trigger action response plans (TARPs) and iROC presentation materials as required.
  • Contribute to the development of the sustainable iROC project model.
  • Coordinate and interact with cross-site and interdepartmental personnel within North Atlantic Operations (NAO) with responsibility to communicate, coordinate and evolve iROC deployment business processes, toolsets based on interactions and feedback


About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Technology or Engineering (Mining) with understanding of process flow mapping, mine planning and execution.
  • P. Eng. Certification preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 11 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Leadership experience in underground mine operation preferred.
  • Experience in project design and project management preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to vision, develop and establish processes and toolsets for operational use.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Change Management knowledge and/or training
  • Critical thinking skills, taking ownership for the whole.
  • Subject Matter Expert in technical and system process maps.
  • Value diversity of thought and ability to manage expectations from multiple stakeholders to deliver on planned work.
  • Personal commitment to safety and risk management.
  • Knowledge of integrated operations planning and scheduling best practices and systems. Underground mining, scheduling, underground mine design, mining engineering, mine geology, maintenance knowledge is considered an asset.
  • Facilitates changes, with a focus on core business outcomes.
