PEOPLE & CULTURE

People & Culture is comprised of professional human resources, employee relations, and administrative employees. We provide services for employment, salary administration, employment equity, benefits and pension, staff relations for support and academic staff, leadership development, job evaluation, analysis and reports, and policy development. UNB negotiates collective agreements with four unions - AUNBT, Unifor, CUPE and PSAC - that represent employees in eight separate groups.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $51,434 - $66,866 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Recruitment & Compensation Manager, the Recruitment & Employee Experience Specialist is responsible for the implementation management, communication, and administration of the University's staff job evaluation program and works collaboratively with the manager on sensitive or senior positions.

  • Achieve and maintain skill level as subject matter expert for UNB job evaluation and classification systems. This includes Korn Ferry Hay Evaluation method.
  • Act as first point of contact for job evaluation requests.
  • Track all submissions and provide all required documentation to committee members as needed.
  • Independently evaluate new positions and job reclassifications to ensure positions are evaluated in a timely manner.
  • Manage all communications with employees and managers whose positions are under review, ensuring consistency in language, transparency, and understanding of the systems.
  • Consult with and advise the department on best practices in job design and evaluation, ensuring consistency and fairness.
  • Active member of the evaluation committee.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to assist manager and supervisors with recruitment, succession planning, and employment matters.
  • Inform and influence the hiring department in applying the Collective Agreements during the hiring and probationary or trial process.
  • Provide consultative services and tactical support to clients on all aspects of the recruitment process including selection, assessment, interview packages, referencing, and pre-employment checks.
  • Negotiate with the candidates' and department regarding compensation package. Males job offers which legally binds the University. Draft employment contracts and offer letters.
  • Responsible for approval of all documents related to staff transactions including: job posting paperwork, employment offers, salary changes, reclassification, new hires, extensions, etc. and ensure adherence to UNB policy and procedures.
  • Build relationships of trust based on client service, knowledge, and understanding of needs at all levels of the university to enhance our reputation as an open and inclusive workplace. Ensure solutions fit with the culture, values, and mission of the department and university.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Arts or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • 5 years experience in a progressive human resources advisor, generalist or specialist role with a focus on compensation/classification, recruitment, and selection.

Additional Strengths

  • Knowledge of Korn Ferry Hay Evaluation method.
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset.
  • Innovative and strategic thinking, research and analytical skills, commitment to quality and service, decision making and problem-solving, interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills, demonstrated dedication and diligence, and commitment to learning and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships of trust.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be able to balance a high number of tasks and projects within tight timeframes while maximizing administrative efficiencies.
  • Experience in a post-secondary setting may be considered an asset.
