Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer
GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Team. We currently have an opening for a fulltime Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in our Oshawa, ON office.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Geological Engineering program may be suitable) from a recognized university.
- Have approximately 5-7 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Have excellent writing and verbal communication skills (English), strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time to deliver quality work on time and on budget.
- Possess experience in geotechnical report writing for projects within the GTA, and coordination of small to medium complexity geotechnical and/or multi-disciplinary projects.
- Have significant experience in geotechnical evaluations, and inspections (i.e., subgrade, foundations, slopes etc.).
- Good knowledge of shallow and deep foundation design, settlement analysis, and shoring systems.
- Have experience with geotechnical software applications such as Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, Settle3D, FLAC, or similar.
- Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.
- Be motivated to provide excellent client service and enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Main Duties:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:
- Assist with geotechnical projects including writing proposals, field work, data analysis, and writing geotechnical reports;
- Assist in the preparation of lab and field reports;
- Assist with client management and consultation as required to manage projects and assist in the development of a client base;
- Assist with mentoring/training junior laboratory and field staff;
- Conduct field inspections and slope stability assessments; and
- Other duties as required
- Adhering to all company policies.

Position:
- Full time/Part time
- Must have a valid driver's license
- 37.5 hours/week (varies with client workload)
