The Team
The Global Capital Markets Engineering– Global Fixed Income team is a high performing team with the mandate to design, develop, support and execute global technology strategies for Scotiabank with a focus on Fixed Income and Mortgage products
The Senior Technical Solutions Expert– Fixed Income/MBS will be responsible for working with a team of business analysts and technical staff engaged in conducting analysis, design and the development of applications to support business needs of Mortgage Desk. As a leader you will be responsible for the resolution of complex, multi-dimensional business problems and for implementing solutions to meet business needs of Mortgage Desk.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Work closely with business and other IT teams and provide support and direction to various project and steady state related work items. Active collaboration with Business stakeholders in facilitating functional, data flow and solution design discussions
- Communicate and negotiate timelines, budget, staffing, scope and critical milestones with project managers and key stakeholders
- Develop sound business cases with stakeholders, emphasize reusability, scalability, innovation, and enterprise-wide solutions
- Maintain "end-to-end" view of the customer, business and processes to help triage new project requests based on changing partner needs.
- Manage resources and prioritizes work assignments, meet milestones
- Oversee and provide input throughout creation, delivery, and maintenance of key artefacts such as requirements and testing documentations
- Oversee and manage issue escalation and resolution, as well as ongoing monitoring and assessment to mitigate risks and monitor and track progress
- Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management, team leadership, input into performance and development plans.
- Ensure application records are kept up-to-date and software currency issues are remediated
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- 8+ years' experience in a relevant capacity as a Technical/Business Systems Analyst
- Strong knowledge of asset classes such as mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, Fixed Income securities
- Experience in TAO Mortgage Hub and Secure Hub applications.
- Experience in asset backed/mortgage-backed structured finance, securitization, and accounting principles is desired
- Strong knowledge of RMBS, NHA MBS, CMB and other ABS programs
- Experienced in working with TAO (vendor) and related application
- Breath of IT experience (governance, operations, audit, control functions, architecture and system design and IT risk management best practices),
- Strong diagnostic skills followed by good ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation) to effectively liaise with business users, vendors, other departments, and members of a project team
- Highly motivated individual that thrives in a fast-paced dynamic working environment

- Knowledge of SQL is required.
