Since 1973, Bulk Carriers (PEI) Limited has served customers in the agricultural, seafood, processing, and manufacturing industries across the Maritimes and beyond. As an industry leader for over five decades., Bulk Carriers/KelCold Storage employs 200 individuals and operates a fleet of 100 trucks and 150 trailers with satellite-tracking technology. They also manage a 3.36 million cubic foot refrigerated warehouse and a 21,000 square foot refrigerated dock. In partnership with Meridia Recruitment, Bulk Carriers is looking to add a General Manager to join their team in Clyde River, Prince Edward Island.

Role Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Fleet Operations, the General Manager will oversee all facets of Bulk Carriers logistics management function to efficiently control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to their destinations. This exciting role also involves leading the implementation of a comprehensive strategy, metrics, and procedures to establish an optimized logistics network and operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising essential inventory, distribution, and transportation tasks to meet organizational objectives and KPIs for product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and nurturing team members through effective leadership and mentorship to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Establishing governance and quality auditing processes to monitor vendor performance.
  • Encouraging continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function.
  • Working closely with brokerage, business development, and customer service teams.
  • Maintaining relationships both inside and outside of the organization, actively seeking feedback from customers to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Along with the IT department, seeking out opportunities to introduce automation in areas of the supply chain that are frequent and repetitive.

Your Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in supply chain management, economics, business administration, project management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a comparable role in logistics or transportation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and providing effective leadership.
  • Proficiency in analyzing metrics and making data-driven decisions.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful supply chain strategies.
  • Consistent achievement of KPIs.
  • Proficient in utilizing logistics software for operational efficiency.
  • Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
