The incumbent supports the achievement of current and future strategic goals, by providing team leadership, managerial oversight, and operational expertise.

In this role, you will:

Responsibility 1 : Human Resource Leadership

  • Provides leadership and direction to staff to ensure that effective delivery of services and excellent customer service is maintained.
  • Recruits, mentors, supports, and develops the best local teams possible while ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
  • Responds to internal office staff performance concerns in a timely manner through investigation and follows-up, as required, with an appropriate Senior Leader or Human Resources Representative.

Responsibility 2 : Strategic Oversight

  • Analyzes and interprets operational and organizational goals and strategies.
  • Achieves targets and outcomes while ensuring compliance with quality management practices.
  • Manages local outcomes and integrates knowledge of local trends to shape business strategies.

Responsibility 3 : Budget Management

  • Manages operations within budget allocations and implements the annual operating, marketing and project plans.
  • Produces quarterly management and statistical reports; and other correspondence or reports as required.
  • Identifies possible funding sources and develops proposals as appropriate to support current operations.

Responsibility 4 : Relationship Building

  • Develops productive relationships of trust with local funder, government, and stakeholder representatives.
  • Represents Red Cross at funder meetings (e.g. Ontario Health, Municipal Government,) as appropriate and required; participates in or leads community coalitions or projects.
  • Establishes and maintains agency relations with referral and interfacing agencies to advocate on behalf of Red Cross, the client base, address system design, customer service support and inter-agency service coordination.

Responsibility 5 : Business Development

  • Identifies trends and makes linkages about business issues and opportunities that would impact long term objectives and strategies.
  • Leverages relationships with key stakeholders for future needs and opportunities.
  • Leverages all Red Cross's capabilities (practices, expertise, relationships) to address community and client needs.

Responsibility 6 : Quality Assurance

  • Ensures compliance with Quality Management practices, policies, and directions.
  • Monitors client service with respect to adherence to standards and procedures and emergency policy issues.
  • Conducts audits to monitor adherence to policies and legislation and/or reviews service audits and administrative procedures to make improvement recommendations.

What we are looking for :

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant business or related discipline, or a combination of education and management experience that would be consider equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years' experience within a Not-for-Profit program/department or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience leading cross team projects and proven success in achieving change.
  • Experience (either as employee, delegate or as a senior volunteer) with a national, service-based, non-profit organization is an asset.
  • Demonstrated competency leading and working collaboratively with teams.
  • Experience and understanding of CRC disaster response is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the community health care industry is an asset.
  • Professionalism, credibility, and exceptional interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and establish and manage productive internal and external relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in high pressure and often ambiguous conditions.
  • Strong project management, problem solving, strategic thinking, evaluation and analytical skills, keen attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation and planning, organization, priority setting and negotiation skills to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Computer and numerical literacy, comfort working with databases, metrics and applicant tracking systems.
  • Fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English is essential; fluency in French is highly desirable.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Working Conditions :

  • Much of the work is performed in an environment which is clean and professional.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call, and carry a cellular phone.
  • Ability to travel between CRC offices to organize/attend meetings.
  • Please note that there is no relocation package for this position.
  • This position requires reference checks, valid provincial driver's license, and First Aid certification (training provided.)
