Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a 18 mnonths full-time opportunity, for an Accountant to join our Finance team. This role can be based out of one our main offices: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON.

Here's where you'll be focusing:
- Accurately prepare and post entries and account for transactions in the general ledger
- Prepare and review working papers that support account balances, investigate errors, and facilitate correction.
- Complete period-end close processes, controls, and procedures.
- Review and update the detailed schedules for financial statement note disclosure purpose.
- Prepare and explain balance sheet variances with comparative periods.
- Ensure compliance with CEO/CFO Certification requirements.
- Participate in the internal and external audit requests.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to support and guide them with proper recommendation in accordance with accounting standard IFRS.
- Process improvement mindset, propose innovated ideas.
- Prepare various analytical and ad-hoc reports
What you have to offer:
- University Degree and Accounting Designation CPA (or in the process of obtaining)
- Bilingualism (French optional & English) The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the expansion, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Knowledge of accounting standard IFRS
- Strong communication skills (Both oral and written)
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel)
