GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Planner to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a fulltime Planner in our Fredericton, NB office.

As a Planner at GEMTEC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of urban landscapes. You will collaborate with our multidisciplinary team of experts, including engineers, technicians, and environmental specialists, to design and develop urban environments that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Design, Planning, or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Planner designation.
  • Member of Canadian Institute of Planners considered an asset.
  • 5-10 years related planning experience.
  • Proven experience in planning, preferably within a consultancy or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of planning principles, zoning regulations, and building codes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Contribute to the design and development of urban plans, master plans, and site plans.
  • Create visually compelling and innovative design concepts for public spaces, streetscapes, and parks.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate planning design principles into infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform design decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and present proposals to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with zoning regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in planning.
  • Support business development strategic planning.
  • Preparation of planning briefs, reports, and other planning related activities.
  • Review and contribute to technical deliverables including geotechnical, environmental assessments, hydrogeological, etc.
  • Adhering to all company policies.
  • Other duties as required.

Position:

  • Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
