Maintenance Supervisor

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor oversees the allocated financial, contracted, and human resources to achieve NSPHA client service, maintenance, renovation, and loss prevention program objectives. Responsible for the development, monitoring, and adherence to operational procedures and standards, hiring, selection, scheduling, and performance management while ensuring services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner.

Responsabilités
  • Plan daily work schedules and assign work to maintenance staff as well as external contractors.
  • Perform and document regular inspections to buildings and properties for deficiencies, determining appropriate course of action to ensure repairs are undertaken and to ensure the buildings are maintained in a safe and habitable conditions (routine maintenance, major renovations, retrofit and repair programs).
  • Direct and inspect routine work and workmanship of Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency staff and contractors to ensure performance is in accordance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensure equipment of Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency is adequately maintained through regular scheduled inspections, and replacements as required.
  • Ensure that all employees and contractors carry out their duties and responsibilities in a safe manner and in accordance with relevant provisions of the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act and the NSPHA Health and Safety Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Certificate of Qualification under the Apprenticeship and Tradesman's Qualification Act of the Province of Nova Scotia or interprovincial certification (Red Seal Journeyperson certification) with at least three years' experience supervising diverse employee groups, including unionized and non-unionized staff.
  • Good knowledge of planned maintenance procedures as well as an awareness of building codes, municipal by-laws, Provincial Acts and Regulations such as Worker's Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and appropriate fire regulations and the Collective Agreement.
  • Experience in inspection of single and multi-unit residential construction, as well as thorough knowledge of, and competency in, the interpretation and application of various building regulations and codes as required.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Possess a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.

Assets

  • Yardi Property Management software experience.
  • Possess current Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.

Salary Range: $62,625.08 to $73,629.60 annually
