Definition of Work:

Newfoundland Labrador Health Services in the Labrador-Grenfell Zone is responsible for a full range of services including community health, long term care and acute care for Northern Newfoundland and all of Labrador. The Labrador-Grenfell Zone operates accredited facilities including three hospitals, in St. Anthony, Happy Valley - Goose Bay, and Labrador City, three community health centers, 14 community clinics /nursing stations and three long term care homes.

This is a professional position providing a unique, proactive service that is a combination of group and home-based client centred care. The Child / Behaviour Management Specialist (C/BMS) develops and oversees home and community-based intervention programs to young children with developmental delay(s) and assists families and community organizations in meeting the needs of individuals who exhibit very challenging behaviours in the Labrador-Grenfell Zone. The C/BMS assesses problem behaviours and completes developmental screening tools; designs and implements programs including skill-teaching programs; prepares technical reports; and consults with other professionals in the social services, health and education fields, and provides training to care providers / support staff / community agencies as required. The C/BMS facilitates group programs virtually and in person. The successful candidate will be a member of a regional team of Behaviour and Child Management Specialists and will play a role in various interdisciplinary teams. Other related duties may be required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements. This position reports to the Regional Manager for Child and Youth Community Health Services.

Required Qualifications:
" Graduation from an approved college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or closely related field with major course work in Psychology in the areas of child development, learning theory and principles of behaviour management.
" Demonstrated knowledge and experience with individual program planning, functional analysis, program design and treatment ethics, and behaviour management techniques.
" Demonstrated knowledge of home-based early intervention, child development, family-centered practices, skill teaching strategies, and task analysis.
" Experience in working with individuals with developmental delays.
" Demonstrated comfort with meeting with clients, facilitation and willingness to travel throughout the region, as required.
" Demonstrated strong oral and written communication, management and analytical skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team.
" Use of a private vehicle and valid driver license are a condition of employment.
" A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Salary:
" CG 38 of the NAPE HP Collective Agreement, $36.00 to $40.16 plus applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:
" Hours of work will follow the flexible work schedule in accordance with Article 19.01(a) of the NAPE-HP Collective Agreement, based on 75 hours bi-weekly (by mutual agreement). Variable shifts may apply.
