Recreation Therapy Worker
Permanent Part Time
Location: Labrador City, NL

This position reports to the Manager of Patient Services and is responsible for planning, organizing, and initiating and evaluating recreational and social programs for long term care residents based on individual needs, and assists new residents in adjusting to the hospital environment.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from high school.
" Current certification in Basic Life Support or willing to complete.
" Ability to develop, plan and carry out an overall recreational and social program for long term care patients.
" Ability to communicate and work effectively with the elderly and with patients who may be physically and/or mentally disadvantaged.
" Must possess a high degree of energy, initiative, and innovation.
" Basic computer skills an asset.
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Develops, organizes, and participates in recreational activities for residents.
" Arranges for special events in consultation with coordinator or designate.
" Provides individual instruction and demonstration to residents with special needs.
" Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in regard to care of LTC clients.
" Other related duties as required.
Salary:
" CG-24 of the Nape-HS Salary Scales, $22.41 to $24.69 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.
Hours of Work:
" 37.5 hours bi-weekly; variable shifts.
