EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY (BURSARY)- Laboratory Services-Genetics

About Us
Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NL Health Services) brings together five former separate health entities - Eastern Health, Central Health, Western Health, Labrador-Grenfell Health, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information. The creation of a provincial health authority was announced following recommendations from Health Accord NL.

NL Health Services is responsible for delivering health and community services to more than 528,000 people living in Newfoundland and Labrador and employs over 21,000 people. NLHealthServices.ca

Prerequisite Requirements
The candidate must apply and meet the admission requirement for the Genetics Technology program on their own merit. Entrance requirements are outlined on Michener's website. Please visit http://michener.ca/admissions/applying/admissions-requirements/ to review. Please contact the Michener Institute of Technology for more information on admission requirements and fees. The deadline to apply for admission to the program is February 1, 2025.

Please note, at least two university-level genetics courses are required. These courses include 0.5 credit in Human Genetics (1 semester length course) and 0.5 credit in Molecular Genetics (1 semester length course). These courses must have been completed within the last 10 years with a minimum grade of 70%. Transcripts will be requested by Human Resources.

Financial Assisstance
Financial assistance may be available in the form of a bursary to help offset costs associated with the Genetics Technology program. Funding of up to $10,000 may be provided for tuition and approved related expenses. A return-in-service agreement will be required, and the length will depend on the total amount of funding provided. The service obligation will begin once the applicant has successfully completed the certification exam and started working in the role.
