Trades Helper - Summer Student
Temporary Call-In
Location: Labrador West Health Centre

About the Role

Reporting to the Regional Director of Physical Infrastructure Support through the Team Leader located at the Labrador West Health Centre. The primary purpose of this position is to provide supportive maintenance, engineering work on the technical based infrastructure throughout the Labrador West Health Centre.

Qualifications:
" Currently completing high school diploma or has successfully graduated high school.
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
" Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to perform duties and activities.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Assist in the operation and maintenance of a heating plant in a safe and orderly manner;
" Assist in the inspection of boilers, mechanical, and electrical equipment for proper operation;
" Assist in the necessary repairs to the heating plant system and auxiliary equipment and adjustments to boilers, pumps and auxiliary equipment including air conditioning and related equipment;
" Assist with periodic readings around boiler room and electrical room, completes boiler room log every shift, completes appropriate forms as pertains to the operation of the heating plant;
" Required to assist other trades people in various maintenance activities
" Responsible for general clean-up of boiler room, electrical room and diesel room area;
" Washes floors, walls and ceilings and attends to other custodial tasks in buildings;
" Collects and disposes of garbage
" Assist in the changes of oxygen cylinders, N2O cylinders, propane cylinders;
" Assist with the transportation of dangerous good
" Assist with pipe work throughout the hospital, cleans out radiators, changes filters in sterilizing filtering units in CSR and OR;
" Performs other related work as required.

Salary:
" CG-17 of the NAPE HS salary scale $19.83 to $21.33 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:
" Variable shifts/variable hours.
