Financial Services Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Manager, Finance & Administration, the Financial Services Coordinator's responsibilities include preparing and maintaining various transactions, records, journal entries and reports using a computerized accounting system in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and NSPHA practices. The Financial Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring financial transactions are processed in accordance with NSPHA and government policies, regulations, and procedures.

Responsabilités
  • Ensure the integrity of the general ledger accounts of the NSPHA by performing reconciliations including bank, intercompany, accounts receivable, suspense, HST, holdback, accrual, deposit clearing, inventory, payables, liability, etc.
  • Ensure timely billing and reconciliation of tenant rent payments by following internal procedures and policies, coordinating with the bank and collectors where necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end activities through reconciling provincial equity account, allocation of the Net Operating Loss to funding partners, and assisting in the preparation of year-end statements and audit schedules.
  • Review tender payments, including progress payments, calculation of holdback, etc.
  • Support the accounts receivable write off function by reviewing tenant issues and ledgers related to former and current tenant files.
  • Support the integrity of payroll processing function by verifying accurate costing, coding, and reconciliation of payroll journal entries.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a major in accounting plus 3 years' related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of internal control.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of desktop software, including Microsoft Office, data management, data analysis and spreadsheet utilization.
  • General knowledge of Payroll/HR legislation regarding pensions, income tax, EI, Workers' Compensation, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data and pay attention to detail.

Assets

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Knowledge of NSPHA policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Property Management software and SAP.
