OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
The Office of the Registrar provides administrative and coordination services in support of the UNB learning community. Services that we provide to students, faculty and staff include admission, academic advising (Saint John), timetabling and course set up, academic room assignment, final examinations, coordination of graduations, regulation and policy advice, as well as reporting and information requests.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $48,160 - $60,208 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Manager of Academic Advising, the Undergraduate Academic Advisor advises students toward the completion of academic credentials, including academic progression, academic program requirements, options, and equivalencies.

  • Provide academic advice for all incoming and continuing undergraduate students, including students who may return to studies after a period away or who may be coordinating a variety of academic goals.
  • Maintain familiarity with academic programs for degrees, certificates, and diplomas and relevant University policies and procedures.
  • Work with other academic advisors, departments, faculty, and staff to provide students with timely information on student course and program options.
  • Assess applications for graduation eligibility. Conduct reviews of a student's completed courses and grades to ensure completion thresholds are achieved.
  • Consult with faculty colleagues to confirm eligibility.
  • Communicate plans to complete credential requirements to non-successful applicants, including identifying gaps and appropriate courses of action.
  • Coordinate with the Office of the Registrar and Faculty colleagues on the overall graduation project, certificate, and diploma completion.
  • Prepare and build student academic plans inclusive of external credit.
  • Work closely with the Office of the Registrar, academic unit and advising colleagues, as well as faculty, to coordinate transfer credit assessments and program advice for incoming students.
  • Work with students who wish to study abroad to identify course options complementary to their academic and life goals.
  • Develop and maintain advising outreach sessions/tools to inform the undergraduate student body of relevant academic information, including academic dates, academic regulations, new academic programs, course changes, advising events and opportunities.
  • Other duties as directed.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of employment within a university environment, preferably with an advising, enrolment, or registrar function.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service role.

Additional Strengths:

  • Familiarity with Ellucian products is an asset.
  • Familiarity with O365 products.
  • Experience in an environment with private and confidential information would be preferred.
  • Exceptional level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
