Your Contribution

As a Pavement Technician, you will work in collaboration with the Pavement team in the Toronto office and will assist other offices located in the Greater Toronto Area.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Pavements Engineering, your main responsibility will be to work on pavement and geotechnical projects for various municipalities in Ontario and the Ministry of Transportation.

More specifically, you will:

  • Supervise geotechnical investigations for asphalt and concrete cores, borehole drilling, rock coring, and monitoring wells;
  • When required, conduct coring using Englobe's gas-powered coring equipment;
  • Log soil samples for further classification and analysis in the laboratory and prepare subsoil samples for environmental testing;
  • Complete data entry of information collected in the field including borehole logs and core photographs;
  • Carry out fieldwork using pavement equipment such as a Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and laser profilometer (training will be provided);
  • Prepare field reports documenting equipment used, test locations, and results;
  • Assist with equipment calibration and building maintenance as needed;
  • Responsible for promoting and adhering to a safe work practice;
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules;
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Your Profile

  • Technical Diploma in a field related to Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Two (2) years of experience in geotechnical and/or pavement, civil, mechanical or electrical field will be an asset;
  • Demonstrate computer skills or able to adapt using various computer programs for the testing equipment;
  • Hands on skills or knowledge in troubleshooting equipment will be an asset;
  • Experience conducting borehole drilling, coring, and pavement testing equipment would be an asset;
  • Excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing;
  • Demonstrate interest and sensitivity towards occupational health and safety;
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as required;
  • The position requires travel to various sites within Canada. The candidate is required to have a valid Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license, access to a vehicle and capable of driving a pickup truck with an attached trailer.
