Job Title: Surgeon - Locum
Specialty: General Surgery
Location: Gander, Newfoundland
Facility: James Paton Memorial Health Centre, 125 Trans-Canada Highway, Gander, NL A1V 1P7

Job Type: Temporary Full Time

License: Full or Provisional License

Job Description: The physician will join a General surgery program with three other Royal College certified General Surgeons responsible for inpatient/outpatient general surgery services, elective and emergency surgeries as well as on-call duties. Call requirement is 1:4. The successful candidate will be committed to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements. Responsibilities may also include opportunities to take on leadership opportunities within Central Health which could include, but is not limited to acting as Deputy Chief and/or Department Chief.
Qualifications:
* Eligible for registration and Iicensure as a General Surgeon with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
* Satisfy credentialing requirements of Central Health
* Work experience is an asset, but not required.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Education: Doctor of Medicine
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly
Remuneration: Salary: $1335 per day for 56 days, then $1258.75 per day or Fee-For-Service (as per the Memorandum of Agreement and Dept of Health MCP Billings). Potential for additional compensation for work in leadership role within Central Health.
Benefits: Some (not all) expenses related to travel, accommodations, locum licensing fee, meals and malpractice insurance will be paid for by the health authority, as agreed upon by all parties.
