Job Description

Pediatrician (Regional Scope)
Permanent Full Time
Location: To Be Determined

Labrador-Grenfell Health provides quality health and community services to a population just under 37,000 and covers the communities north of Bartlett's Harbour on the Northern Peninsula and all of Labrador. Labrador-Grenfell Health is seeking the services of a permanent full-time Pediatrician to join our multidisciplinary team; the position will be regional in scope to support the larger Labrador-Grenfell Region with base location to be determined. Responsibilities include local outpatient clinics, consultation for Inpatient and Emergency Department patients, as well as consultant services for the region via telehealth and in person travelling clinics. Job duties will also include diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders, ordering laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures, the prescription of medication and treatment, consultations with other physicians, and referring patients to specialists.

Responsibilities also include:
" Providing on-call services at a rate of 1:3;
" Providing 9 half-days of direct clinical care per week;
" Abiding by the Labrador Grenfell Health Medical Staff By-Laws, the policies of the organization, the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and the Canadian Medical Association Code of Ethics;
" Participation in undergraduate and post-graduate medical teaching.
Qualifications:
" License: Full or Provisional License;
" Applicants must be eligible for full or provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador and satisfy credentialing requirements for Labrador-Grenfell Health. The criteria for licensure are outlined on the CPSNL website (www.cpsnl.ca);
" In accordance with Canadian Immigration regulations, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. Applicants must also have a Doctor of Medicine.
" Language of Work: English.

Incentives:
" Approved relocation expenses with a two year commitment to our Health Authority;
" Furnished Temporary Accommodation available plus an annual housing subsidy of $5,000 after the initial 12 months of employment;
" Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Labrador Travel and Allowance Benefit may be applicable;
" Partial reimbursement of malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association;
" 20 days of vacation leave per year; 5 days of miscellaneous leave; 10 days of study leave; and 5 days compensatory leave after 12 months of service.

General Information: Existing staff and supports in our region include diagnostic imaging (including CT scan, mammography and ultrasound), laboratory and pathologist services, intensive care, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, anesthesia, ophthalmology, internal medicine, general surgery and orthopedics.

Remuneration:
" Remuneration ranges from $232,147.00 - $316,714.00 annually in accordance with the current Memorandum of Understanding between the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Hours of Work:

" 75 Hours bi-weekly (7.5 hours per day).
