Job Description

Domestic/Utility Worker
Temporary Call In
Location: Labrador West Health Centre

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain clean, sanitary and safe environments in all Facilities or Accommodations areas operated (or rented) by Labrador Grenfell Health. Reporting to the Regional Director of Environmental/Laundry Services and/or designate.

Qualifications:
" High School Graduation or equivalent;
" Valid Class 05 Driver's License;
" Willingness to obtain Class 04 Driver's License where deemed necessary;
" Successfully completed Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road Certification or willingness to complete in a timeframe approved by the employer;
" Sufficient physical strength and conditioning to perform extensive and continuing janitorial/custodial tasks;
" Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to perform quality assurance reporting activities;
" Must have initiative and be able to work independently;
" Experience in janitorial work would be considered as asset;
" Knowledge of the chemicals, cleaning practices, equipment and supplies used in the processes would be considered an asset;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
" Cleaning and disinfecting of all hard surfaces throughout Facilities operated or maintained by LG Health;
" Cleaning/Disinfection of Client/Resident's rooms and other areas of facilities;
" Dust mopping and damp mopping of floors, stairwells and other required areas;
" Waste removal, including items like Sharpe Containers;
" Cleaning, disinfecting and visual inspection of all mobility devices utilized throughout the Facilities operated by LG Health;
" Operating all equipment, utilized within the EVS Department;
" Snow removal and ground-care, when deemed necessary;
" Assess and as needed transport Bio-medical or Anatomical Waste, from all areas of Labrador Grenfell Health Facilities to the proper holding area for that Site;
" Willingness to obtain Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Road and/or Air, as deemed necessary;
" Moving of furniture and other equipment;
" Performs on-call duties as necessary;
" Attends Departmental meetings and Educational Seminars;
" Uses all chemicals in accordance with WHMIS regulation and in-house training;
" Ordering Housekeeping supplies;
" Transporting of soiled and clean linen and other items;
" Folding and distributing linen for use;
" Other related EVS and Laundry duties as required.
Salary:
" CG - 19 salary scales, $18.89 - $20.39 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:
" Variable Hours, Variable Shifts.
