Now hiring: Coffee Roasters / Assistant Roasters who want to help make delicious coffee while having a blast with a dynamic and rapidly growing company. Saltwinds Coffee Company is a coffee roastery based in New Brunswick, specialising in high quality coffee award winning coffee that is infused with Ocean Air. Our coffee is sold at grocery stores and shops across Canada and the USA, as well as online. Our unique Maritime flavoured coffee has won international awards and has attracted considerable interest and very strong sales. We are now looking for a coffee roaster / assistant roaster (role will depend on the candidate's previous experience) to help us meet growing demand for our amazing products. No coffee roasting experience required: we will train you! We are looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible, and then grow with us as we continue to expand. This is a full time permanent role.

Your duties will include:
- Roasting coffee
- Grinding, flavouring and packaging coffee
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of the coffee roaster, associated equipment and roasting facility
- Picking and packing Saltwinds coffee orders, and paperwork associated with orders
- Managing inventory in the Saltwinds roastery and assisting with production planning
- Quality control and quality assurance tasks in the roastery
- Training and supervision of junior production assistants
- Occasional order fulfillment and delivery in the greater Fredericton area
- Other duties as required to help Saltwinds Coffee Company grow

The successful Coffee Roaster / Assistant Roaster is:

  • comfortable operating industrial machinery (training will be provided), which involves transporting loads of 20kg and frequently moving across the roastery and around equipment with these loads
  • a self starter who can manage their own time effectively to meet goals and deadlines
  • a person with extreme attention to detail and a focus on accuracy in the tasks they carry out
  • able to work with a sense of urgency in a fast paced environment and can effectively manage stress
  • a great team player who can work efficiently with others to complete tasks
  • a competent user of word processing software, comfortable using a computer to log data and complete tasks
  • an effective communicator in the English language, verbal and written
  • in possession of a valid Canadian driving license and has access to a vehicle
  • experienced in the food service industry, and coffee in particular (this is a plus)
  • a university or college graduate, preferably with a degree in science, engineering or manufacturing
  • passionate about coffee with a desire to learn more

This role may be supported by the NRC's Youth Employment program (https://nrc.canada.ca/en/support-technology-innovation/nrc-irap-funding-hire-young-graduates) and thus may be subject to its program requirements.

This is a full time permanent role, in person at our coffee roastery in the Keswick Ridge area - our roastery is just outside Fredericton city limits. Regular hours are Monday - Friday from 8 - 4:30
