FACULTY OF ENGINEERING

The Faculty of Engineering consists of five Departments delivering undergraduate as well as graduate programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Software Engineering. The Engineering and Science Co-op Office helps undergraduate and graduate engineering students as well as undergraduate science students to work toward their goals through career-focused professional work experiences.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

YOUR FOCUS:

Reporting to the Co-op Director, the Co-op Student Development Coordinator aids the department in working closely with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating workshops and sessions for students and employers, delivering a positive co-op experience for students, and helping students gain meaningful co-op employment.

  • Conduct orientation sessions, and professional development sessions for students.
  • Inform and discuss co-op opportunities with students.
  • Engage in one-on-one sessions with students to assist with the co-op process (e.g. Job applications, document review, etc.).
  • Review students' performance evaluations.
  • Maintain detailed records of student information and employer information throughout the co-op process.
  • Initiate and host employer sessions and attend UNB Job Fairs.
  • Meet with co-op supervisors during work term check-ins and discuss student performance with co-op employer.
  • Organize and track all work term-related materials including meeting notes, offer letters, employment contracts, funding, wage subsidies, etc.
  • Develop content for and update information for UNB's Experiential Learning Systems.
  • Participate in training programs, seminars, and conferences to learn best practices from leaders in the field and determine how UNB can create a unique co-op brand.
  • Work closely with UNB's International Relations Office and international partners to increase the number of co-op positions within the framework of UNB exchange programs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-Secondary education preferably in Engineering or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with students in a post-secondary setting, ideally in cooperative or experiential education.

Additional Strengths:

  • Post-Secondary education in engineering is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work with people of all backgrounds.
  • Experience working in cooperative or experiential learning is considered an asset.
  • International work experience is considered an asset.
  • Industrial work experience is considered a strong asset.
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft Power Automate is an asset.
  • A high level of professionalism: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.
