Office of the Vice-President Saint John

The Office of the Vice President Saint John employs five staff members, including the Vice President Saint John, and is responsible for all academic, administrative, financial, and operational matters on the Saint John campus.

WHAT WE OFFER

Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to Vice-President Saint John, the Academic Project Specialist (APS) works with faculty, staff, and administration on the development of confidential academic, policy, and other administrative initiatives initiated by the Vice-President's Office.

  • Lead project initiatives and implement project plans through critical paths, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and reporting. Deliver projects within scope, time, and budget.
  • Lead, coordinate, document, and participate in multiple committees and project related events.
  • Prepare and assist with writing program/project descriptions for proposed initiatives.
  • Assist with determining the academic validity of proposed programs/projects based on existing budgets as well as new funding, with consultation with various stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and administrative oversight on new academic programs/projects.
  • Produce a variety of complex governmental documents, oversight reports, proposals, etc.
  • Conduct feasibility studies on new programming initiatives. Consult interested parties within the university and conduct market research and analysis. Complete intra-institutional competitive analysis.
  • Gather and research information for program/project from internet, libraries, professional journals, phone research, etc.
  • Compile quantitative data from available sources on regional, national, and international programming and employment trends.
  • Collaborate cost estimate forecasts of project components.
  • Liaise with departments within the university to foster a collaborative and open program development process.
  • Create presentations and documents for the Vice President to present to boards, senates and external groups including government officials (MPHEC).
  • Lead and facilitate project team meetings. Provide support to project directors.
  • Provide administrative support in the VP's office.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a higher education setting.

Additional Strengths:

  • Outstanding writing and communications skill a must. Proven project management success.
  • Establish General objectives relative to the project. independent judgement required.
  • Problem-solving skills.
