FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
Computer Science as a separate discipline started at UNB in the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1968. The first Master of Science in Computer Science was awarded in 1970. The Department became a School within the Faculty of Engineering in 1972, and was made a Faculty in 1990. The Faculty has the oldest and the largest co-op program at UNB giving students the opportunity to gain real world experience in addition to pursuing academic excellence.

YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of Co-op and the Dean, the Co-op Coordinator will coordinate the Faculty of Computer Science Co-op Program and collaborate with Faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students to deliver an effective and transformative program. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Computer Science Co-op Program (Co-op and PEP), and is responsible for the orientation, recruitment, placement, monitoring and site visits of Computer Science Co-op students.
- Establish new employer relationships. Contact employers to promote the FCS Co-op program. Ensure students meet the co-op requirements with regard to university regulations.
- Develop and maintain existing employer relationships to create new positions and increase the number of work terms.
- Conduct an orientation session for new students at the beginning of each semester.
- Provide one-on-one consulting and review application packages for job competitions as well as providing continuous support. Mock interviews.
- Facilitate relevant educational presentations to the student body as part of their job readiness training. Implement innovative ways to develop and grow student related work experience outcomes.
- Attract students to the Co-op program and ensure engagement throughout their degrees by offering on-going training.
- Communicate with students to determine their expectations and deliver on the value proposition of Co-op.
- Maintain records & checklists for student information related to their participations in the Co-op program.
- Organize and track all work term related materials. Conduct back to school interviews for students returning from work terms.
- Explore funding options and incentive programs outside of the regular employee/employer framework to allow students to work for NGOs. Health Authorities, etc.
- Conduct work site visits for all Co-op and PEP students to monitor student progress during work terms.
- Co-organize the faculty's annual Co-op & Career Fair.
- Work with the UNB Office of Experiential Education to increase the number of co-op placements with the framework "FutureReadyNB" which is a collaborative partnership between New Brunswick's universities, public and private sectors and government to provide experiential learning opportunities for New Brunswick university students.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary in a related discipline.
- 3 years' related work experience.

- Experience in working with students in a post-secondary cooperative or experiential education setting is an asset.
- Must be a self-starter, have excellent organizational skills, be able to multi-task and exhibit excellent problem-solving skills.
- Flexible work hours, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism with superb communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exposure to Experiential Learning Management Platforms (Orbis and Desire2Learn) is an asset.
- Must be highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
