Causal Position: Commencing approximately September 1st, 2022 and ending November 30th, 2022, with the strong potential for extension.

Salary range: $18-$20/hr depending on experience

What you'll be doing….

As a member of the NSCC's Environmental and Agricultural Technology Research Lab of the Annapolis Valley campus, you will be responsible for two areas of research and development. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting plant and soil research. This will involve setting up the experiments, maintaining plots, and sampling. Other general responsibilities range from developing status reports and giving presentations related to the deliverables of the project. Further expectations revolve around conducting fieldwork in support of data acquisition missions that may require both indoor and outside working environments.

Qualifications and Occupational experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an advanced diploma and/or a degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Plant and/or Soil science or related field
  • Experience related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.
  • Occupational experience that includes crop management, crop sampling, soil sampling, and nutrient analysis, as well as running pot to plot level field experiments would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset
