Lead Hand - Shipping Department (12 hour rotating shifts)

We are looking for a Lead Hand to work in our Shipping department in our facility located in Richibucto, NB. This position is a rotating 12- hour shift.

Responsabilités
  • Releasing jobs for shippers, with the help of control board and oracle, based on orders to be shipped
  • Releasing orders on the control board when control board operator is not there
  • Modifying control board according to new shipping status
  • Supervising, assigning work, and training all shipping staff
  • Troubleshooting issues with shipping, packing slips, employee questions, missing products, live loads, etc.
  • Shunting or staging when necessary; if shunter or stager is not at work or if he has been assigned to help somewhere else in shipping; especially on graveyard shift
  • Dealing with truck drivers, giving them packing slip/bill, dealing with truckers that are in a hurry and/or when loads are delayed
  • Making all bills for each load
  • Dealing with divergences between electronic and physical inventory
  • Dealing with last minute add-ins or changes with load
  • Dealing with damaged products through shipping process
  • Reporting to Distribution manager any problems or discrepancies that he should know about regarding material quality, any problems with Oracle, scanners, availability of product, discrepancies regarding physical and electronic inventory, missing products in load, etc.
  • Following all rules, policies and procedures while operating lift truck to ensure your personal safety and the safety of others around you; completing start-of-shift lift truck safety inspection checklist
  • Following all safety rules/practices and policies pertaining to safety, including, but not limited to, wearing all required PPE and doing exercises and stretches at assigned times, and ensuring all employees of the function do the same; fixing the problem and/or reporting all accidents, near misses, potential hazards or problems to distribution manager; do monthly safety talks with employees
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area and contributing to overall plant safety and cleanliness
  • Performing all other duties assigned by Distribution manager
Qualifications
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Experience with Lift Truck operations and/or having Lift Truck training would be an asset
  • The ability to follow oral and written directions
  • The ability to lift loads of up-to 70lbs
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptability to deal with changing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Experience in the production department would be an asset
  • Experience in a leadership role would be an asset
  • Reliability and punctuality
