The organization is a leader in the industry, with a 40-year history as a respected manufacturer. Reporting to Operations Manager, the Engineering Manager will manage the process engineering department staff and projects. The candidate will be accountable for the planning and completion of process development projects, including the design and development of manufacturing processes, documentation, and equipment to successfully implement new and changed products into manufacturing
· Developing and leading a team of Engineers/Technologists/Technicians and Quoting.
· Responsible for application selection and design
· Interact with consulting engineers, internal and external customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams
· Experience and skill in reviewing plans, equipment schedule, specifications, and bid documents
· Background in HVAC fundamentals and knowledge of HVAC systems for Residential and Commercial buildings
· Intermediate to advance level of skills in Auto Cad or equal and have attention to detail in manufacturing and engineering
· Successful candidate will be working through engineering, project, and production management
· Develop processes, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency, quality, safety and reduce costs, including but not limited to time studies, process review and root cause analysis and prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends based on labor, nonconformity and production data;
· Lead the transition of new products from engineering development into pilot run and mass production;
· Supervise process integration in project launches and sustaining existing products, ensure seamless development and maintenance of core documentation (Costing, MFG-BOM, Work Instructions, Cycle Time, Process Failure modes and Effects Analysis, tooling/fixture/jig designing);
· Review and update manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards and cost analysis systems to help promote efficient staff and facility utilization as a result of the change;
· Conduct time study analysis on manufacturing processes in order to obtain the pertinent data to drive prioritized improvements;
· Lead Process Failure modes and Effects Analysis and manufacturability analysis, recommend product changes/improvements to Design/Product Engineers, determine effectivity of changes and assure compliance to such. Observe/monitor new technologies, competitors, industry trends and report to management;
· Assure that all quality requirements, engineering and testing standards are included in all work and/or working instructions, testing procedures and other documentations. Suggest improvements in product design to simplify manufacturing;
· Evaluate engineering and manufacturing tolerances for design standardization and manufacturability;
· Working closely with Engineering, Quality and Production to investigate root cause and come up with corrective actions and preventive actions for quality issues. Implement processes to drive site performance in safety, quality, and productivity to best in class driving out the "Cost of Poor Quality" continuously;
· Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement related to the manufacturability of products and processes. Apply industrial engineering (work measurements, line balancing, human factors and plant layouts, etc.) and lean manufacturing techniques (problem solving tools [fishbone, 5-Why, 8-D], poke yoke, continuous and single piece flow, Kaizens, etc.) to assure optimization of floor space, equipment (assets), safety and resources, as related to the efficient production of quality products;
· Coordinate and implement engineering changes;
· Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and takes immediate corrective action as required
· Have knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, to ensure that product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet requirements
· Be aware of and comply with the Quality Management System.
· Support necessary personnel for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits
· Occasional business travel.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Completion of a Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
· 3-5 years Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering experience in a low volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
· Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Experience in lean manufacturing-Six Sigma or other related certifications or coursework a plus.
· Good knowledge of ERP software, BOM structures, routings, Engineering Change process and Non-conforming process.
· Strong computer skills (including AutoCAD/Solid Works - latest version, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Visio)
