Headquartered in Bermuda, the Butterfield Group is a full-service community bank and a provider of specialized international financial services. We are currently seeking an Operations Administrator to join our expanding team in Halifax, NS.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Administrator will be responsible for supporting the Bank's client-facing offices in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands with successful processing of all operational activity providing responsive, timely and accurate service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, a keen interest in learning and adopting new processes, and will demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a new and expanding team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- performing day-to-day activities in Operations as they relate to verification, data input and filing (electronic and physical) duties; prioritize and perform tasks to meet deadlines and SLAs in accordance with departmental standards, policies and procedures
- preparing and processing various payment instructions (intra and interbank) for retail by working with custodians, brokers and various counter parties for correct execution
- maintaining and updating static data for the Bank's internal and external customers
- preparing, tracking and submitting timely reports for periodic and ad-hoc tasks assigned
- providing support to the investigations unit by researching and solving issues to ensure the timely resolution of any discrepancies
- reconciling data, respond to queries and liaise with counterparties; following up with action as required, referring the most complex problems to the Operations Supervisor
- performing any other duties as directed for the Department efficiency
The ideal candidate's experience and skills will include:
- Bachelor degree or community college with previous banking experience
- excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
- ability to adjust working hours, with minimal notice, and to work on public holidays; willingness to work flexible hours through lunch and overtime during high volume and busy periods
- ability to handle transactions with large dollar amounts, high volumes and confidential information with absolute discretion
- strong organization and analytical skills with a focus on providing excellent customer service
- ability to adapt to and proficiently use the core banking system, Electronic Delivery Interface and SWIFT network
- proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications
