About the Opportunity

The Community Capacity Building (CCB) team exists to fulfill UJA's vision of an empowered community that strives to make sure that every Jews can overcome vulnerability challenges, live a dignified life and participate in Jewish life. Our team's mission is to address urgent needs in Jewish poverty and vulnerability, while strengthening our Jewish social safety net for years to come. We do this through funding partnerships and strategic, collaborative initiatives in the human services sector and increasingly, across other Jewish community sectors as well.

As part of a larger initiative, the Community Capacity Building intern will assist with collecting data and meeting with external partners to create a plan or recommendations on how to manage a social services project within the Jewish Community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Determine scope of the problem through data collection including inventory of specific institutions in the GTA and work with manager to determine which institutions we should partner with
  • Connect with and build relationships within UJA and other organizations relevant to this project
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assist with producing recommendations to address inadequacies and areas of improvement
  • Work with manager to create business plan that will support improvement in this area including long and short term goals and potential cost of project
  • Support other projects within the Research and Affordability team as time allows

Qualifications:

  • Must have high school diploma, post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Volunteer and/or professional experience in the community/human/social services field an asset
  • Current knowledge of Jewish community programs and networks
  • Strong relationship-building and communications skills, including excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability manage multiple activities and tasks simultaneously
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • An understanding of technology including a variety of platforms (including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, etc.) and willingness to learn new platforms

Classification: Seasonal Contract (approx. 9-week contract @ $18/hour x 31 hours per week). No Benefits.
