Job Description

Mission

The Electrical Stations Manager (Lead Engineer) will lead a team of engineers and technicians assigned to utility, energy, & industrial projects. They will have a strong understanding of the engineering environment in electrical design of High Voltage/Medium Voltage substations for utilities and industrial clients and will be working with multi-disciplinary teams to design in accordance with clients' requirements and applicable codes and standards. This is a hybrid position based out of our Vancouver, BC office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Positively contribute to the team development, performance, growth, and profitability of substation projects
  • Be the main contact for our clients and act as a bridge between the client and the multidisciplinary team at CIMA+
  • Lead development of preliminary and detailed design drawings (e.g. SLD, general arrangements, installation details, equipment sizing, calculations, etc.) for HV and MV substations for Utilities and Industrial installations;
  • Leads electrical layout discipline for proposals, scheduling and engineering cost estimates and coordinate with other disciplines and internal or external stakeholders
  • Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing conditions, inspect construction prepare site survey reports, and participate in commissioning activities (occasionally)
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and utilities
  • Ensure designs conform to all applicable codes, client standards and CIMA+'s quality management system
  • Assist with the mentoring and training of less experienced professionals
  • Collaborate with the client's senior engineering team in addressing challenging, complex, or unusual engineering issues, providing solutions-oriented support to effectively manage and mitigate engineering risks
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical layout, preferably with large Canadian utilities
  • University Degree in electrical engineering (power system specialization preferred) or equivalent
  • Registered member of Engineer and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or be eligible to register
  • Advanced experience with electrical design for electric utility substations
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE and Canadian Utility standards
  • Valid British Columbia Driver's License
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Knowledge of French is an asset
  • Excellent problem solving skills, capability to work independently and in a team, detail oriented, and self-motivated
  • Client focused and flexible to respond to short notice assignments and to project based client demands
  • Experience in managing an engineering team

The expected salary for this position is from $122,400.00 to $153,000.00 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate's experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
