In the Role

To support our growth plans Cash 4 You is seeking a well-rounded professional to strengthen, develop and lead the Corporate Finance and administrative functions of our business.

This position will report directly to the Founder/CEO.

Responsibility

This role will be responsible for leading the Financial Planning and Controllership functions. The Controller is a senior and critical role, which will require a seasoned hands-on leader that will develop financial strategies and plans to drive long-term value creation through process automation and increased efficiency and timely and accurate financial information. The successful candidate will work as a trusted business partner with senior leaders and as well as cross-functionally to support the growth of the business.

  • Direct oversight of the preparation of Budgets, Forecasts, Investment Analysis, Business Unit Segment Analysis, Project Planning, Management Reporting, Strategic Analysis, Departmental Financial Support, Key Performance Indicators, and other related analysis.
  • Direct oversight of the Controllership function including Corporate Accounting, Financial & Regulatory Reporting, Taxation, Audit Coordination, Disbursements, Asset & Inventory Management, Vendor & Expense Management, and other related analysis.
  • Support of the Treasury function including Capital and Debt Management, Funding Facilities, Transactional Banking, Financial Instruments, and optimizing cost of credit.
  • Support of the Corporate Development function including Research, Investor Relations, Equity Research, and Strategic Planning.
  • Support of cross-functional departments including cost centre reporting, investment analysis, KPI's, expense tracking, capital investments and other related analysis.
  • Directly impacting the management and financial integrity of Cash 4 You through the effective stewarding of organizational resources, maintaining appropriate controls, and integrity of financial management in compliance with applicable legal, governmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of finance operational excellence; the development of relevant financial information, financial planning, and reporting.
  • Managing, coach, and develop local and offshore accounting teams
  • Overall responsibility for the financial close and reporting cycle
  • Manage the partnership with our (external) Audit partner of record
  • Provides leadership and direction for the activities of the finance department to ensure the department provides superior internal customer service standards
  • Develops and establishes short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives policies and operating procedures.
  • Lead the production of financial statements and manage month-end business processes.
  • Be viewed as a trusted advisor by the business unit leadership and senior executive and provide timely and valued support.
  • Evaluate and optimize current business processes and systems
  • Own and continuously improve internal control processes working collaboratively with internal audit.
  • Lead the quarterly and annual audit processes
  • Stay current on regulatory changes assessing the potential impact on the Company
  • Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant (CPA/CA) with at least 10-12 years of progressive financial management experience.
  • A track record of success serving in a VP Finance/Controller or the related role(s) with preference for exposure in a publicly traded organization; financial services experience is an asset
  • Previous progressive experience within a consulting firm, with a focus on Financial Services.
  • Previous experience working in a very dynamic environment with the aptitude to supporting all other areas of finance (FP&A, Treasury, Corporate Development etc.)
  • Comfortable with a rapidly growing and dynamic environment
  • Natural leader with strong people management and coaching skills
  • A keen eye for talent and a desire to build and retain a high potential high performing team.
  • A strong and organized leader that can manage financial processes but also distill communication with the executive team and business leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines and company goals.
  • Ability to multitask and deal with people and situations in a professional manner within a dynamic environment. Able to manage competing priorities, meet deliverables while building relationships with colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be finance system savvy; experience with Great Plains/Dynamics is considered advantageous as is SQL/SAS
