The Rental Equipment Manager contributes to the overall organization by supporting our field operations with the tools and support equipment required to allow them to succeed. This role primarily interacts with field staff mid-level and senior management.

Your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead a team of skilled technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems and processes for managing and tracking equipment and tools, aligning with key company initiatives to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of support equipment, light fleet vehicles, and tools, ensuring they are in top working condition to support field operations.
  • Manage inventory of small tools, equipment, and parts, ensuring availability and readiness for field staff, while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Ensure the equipment yard and storage facilities are well-organized and maintained, supporting operational efficiency and safety.
  • Support ongoing equipment fleet analysis and reporting, allowing for strategic, cost-effective maintenance decisions
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans for the equipment division, aligning with company goals and enhancing service delivery.
  • Act as a key liaison between field staff, management, and the equipment services department, ensuring clear communication and effective support.
  • Negotiate favorable rental and purchase terms for equipment and tools, optimizing costs while ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Ensure consistency in branding and standardization of equipment
  • Collaborate with the safety department to ensure all equipment meets safety standards and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.

You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills:
Qualifications:

  • Years of experience: 5-8 years of experience Managing a small tool and equipment rental store or equivalent
  • Education: Journeyman Heavy Equipment technician/Commercial transport technician/ automotive technician or equivalent experience
  • Considered an asset:
    • Rental company store management experience
    • Work order management experience
    • Maintenance software experience
    • Equipment warranty management experience
    • Industry knowledge

Technical Skills:

  • Small tool and rental equipment knowledge
  • Light vehicle and support equipment knowledge
  • Accurate costing and purchase order administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Department budgeting

  • Teamwork
  • Problem-solving, with outside-of-the-box thinking
