WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for an Inspector to join our team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. As an Inspector you will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at the consignment location. You will act as an independent party to verify compliance with agreed processes and provide details to clients regarding the handling of their products. Some assignments may include active sampling and shipping of products for laboratory testing.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Ability to communicate efficiently with work site personnel and office-based staff.
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have the ability to convey details through accurate, professional and timely communications (verbal, written and in person) including taking photographs and producing thorough and detailed written reports.
  • Must be respectful, able to work well with others, communicate effectively, handle conflict resolution and maintain positive, courteous and professional relationships with colleagues, clients and on and off site personnel.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Must have a good grasp of basic mathematics (counting, verifying quantities and weights).
  • Must be reliable and able to organize and operate independently (training will be provided).
  • General computer literacy (Word, Excel, G-mail, Google Drive, etc).
  • Follow appropriate health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain work areas, records and equipment in a clean, organized and functional condition.

Required Work Experience

  • Experience in material sampling and inspection practices is preferred.
  • Experience in warehousing, port operations, logistics, processing or general hands-on tasks is desirable.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Must have a personal vehicle suitable for transportation to assignments when needed.
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials allow access to US Ports) preferred. If working in a location where TWIC is required, candidate must be able to pass the background and security requirements).
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have reliable transportation to arrive at the work site.

Travel Requirements

  • Depending on the location, some travel may be required, including overnight stays.
