Position Overview

As a General Foreperson with the Rail group, you will be responsible for multiple crews and as a people leader ensure that your teams are set to effectively execute on the plans and schedules set by you. This role will oversee a large territory including ONT, QC, NB, NS, and will require extensive travel across the region. Success will be based on the positive execution of your project plans, your team's professional development and mentorship and your successful relationship with our clients.

In this role, you will travel across Canada as you work to support our rail clients to ensure track safety is maintained for both passengers and goods.

Job Duties
  • Safely and efficiently lead a crew in providing rights of way maintenance for our clients.
    • Responsible for all safety metrics within the region.
  • Ensure crew leads are set up for success, including but not limited to:
    • Crew lead's trained on all aspects of the job.
    • Assist crew lead's where necessary in training of staff.
    • Assist in recruitment of team members where required.
  • Direct multiple crews and equipment for various work sites.
  • Take the lead in planning, sequencing, and execution of assigned work for crews.
  • Focus on managing budgets and attaining operating profits.
  • Provide support and expertise and leadership on more specialized jobs.
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance of all equipment within a specific location.
  • Complete Quality Control worksite inspections, prepare and submit Quality Assurance reports
  • Attend regular management meetings and work directly with client representatives.
  • Provide mentorship and training to staff and oversee employee development.
  • Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Candidate must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English and French.
  • Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping
  • 3-5 years' experience as Vegetation Management
  • 5+ years as a supervisor/lead.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Valid provincial driver's license.
  • Strong tree, shrub identification skills
  • herbicide license preferred.
