Job Title: Specialist Project Management Specialist Job ID: AT373191775Location: Richmond, BCOverview:Our client is looking for a Project Management Specialist with significant experience managing multiple large projects using hybrid delivery (agile waterfall) or agile scrum delivery methods. The Project Management Specialist has an agile mindset, is an innovative problem-solver, accountable for the entire project scope, project team, resources, change records, issues, and the success or failure of the project. The position is also required to manage risks in interrelated projects and has a strong understanding of the interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs. They are adopting the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and as such, the Project Management Specialist will be managing hybrid delivery projects within the context of the SAFe framework. The Project Management Specialist is expected to adopt the SAFe framework by leveraging the past hands-on project management experience to determine fit for purpose for successful hybrid project delivery. What you will be doing:
  • Managing all aspects of one or multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives across one or multiple lines of business
  • Providing leadership to the project team by building, coaching, and motivating team members to meet project goals and milestones
  • Owning the full project life cycle including implementation from initiation to deployment for one or more major initiatives simultaneously
  • Developing and managing all aspects of the project and program including planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, issues, and day-to-day project activities including:
  • Setting and continually managing project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders
  • Preparing estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
  • Managing project scope and changes
  • Procuring adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations to various audiences, including project teams, sponsors, senior executive management, and key stakeholders
  • Reporting on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Managing ongoing quality control and participating in quality issue resolution
  • Defining the Statement of Work and Specifications for requested goods and services
  • Monitoring, tracking and controlling outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables
  • Defining success criteria and disseminating them to involved parties throughout the project and program life cycle.
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation by appropriate stakeholders.
What you must have:
  • 15+ years of project management experience managing multiple large hybrid delivery (agile waterfall) or agile scrum delivery methods that span one or multiple business units.
  • Extensive understanding of agile, hybrid, and waterfall project and program management principles, methods, and techniques
  • Extensive experience in creating and monitoring project plans, schedules, budgets, and resources; status reporting; identifying/managing project issues and risks; and change control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including extensive experience in preparing status reports and presenting to sponsors, IT, and business stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in coaching, mentoring, motivating, and supervising teams including the ability to communicate, set, and maintain clear expectations.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating for and sharing resources with others.
  • Excellent understanding of financial analysis and principles of project cost estimating analysis.
  • Able to comply with the company's Employee and Contractor Mandatory Vaccine Policy
Nice to have:
  • Experience participating in and leading agile scrum teams.
  • Training and certification (e.g., SAFe for Teams or SAFe Scrum Master), or willingness to undertake training and obtain certification within two (2) months from commencement of work.
  • Although not mandatory, PeopleSoft implementation experience is a bonus.
