Job Summary

The Junior Drafting Technologist will complete drafting of electrical distribution systems and preparing electronic (CAD) working plans for various residential, commercial and industrial projects. As this individual gains more experience, the Junior Drafting Technologist will support engagement with clients to ensure all necessary requirements and project deadlines are achieved.

Education & Qualifications

• 1-3 years of AutoCAD drafting experience in power distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Electrical Design & Drafting Technology or Engineering Design Technology Diploma or CAD Certificate from a recognized technical institution is considered an asset.
• First aid and CPR certification would be considered an asset.
• Valid driver's licence with no at fault accidents.

Responsibilities

• Draft underground and overhead power distribution systems using AutoCAD.
• Draft traffic signal, lighting and electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Utilize knowledge of design standards and procedures when completing drawings and deliverables to client and industry specifications.
• Assist in the creation of single line diagrams, electrical layouts, schematics and wiring.
• Conduct drawing reviews and corrections under the guidance of senior team members as needed including following QAQC processes.
• Assist the project team in delivering high quality client service and engage with clients as needed to deliver top quality solutions.
• Collaborate with senior designers and engineers for support and development on more challenging tasks.
• Ensure all safety procedures and processes are followed with the goal of zero injury.
• Work safely and follow all rules and procedures including attending and participating in safety meetings and completing all required safety orientation and training.
• Travel to client sites for project scoping, verification, construction support and meeting with from time to time as required by the project.
• Completion of other relevant duties as required.

Position Conditions

• Job is performed in an office environment but site travel may occasionally be required depending on the project.
