Job Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will generate models, drawings, and design specifications for all parts and assemblies needed to support the organization. You will recommend design changes that would create or improve products and/or processes for the business to ensure and streamline the manufacturing of competitor's aftermarket parts/assemblies.

Job Duties:

  • Generate product definitions and specifications for competitor's parts/assemblies
  • Seek help from Engineers and/or Design Services Manager/Director of Engineering when questions exceed their area of expertise
  • Participate in mechanical product design including development of product specification, material selection, CAD design, and details product drawings
  • Seek support from Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Purchasing, and/or Technical Support associates when needed
  • Perform make vs. buy analysis on competitor's parts that a purchased through procurement to identify in-house manufacturability of aftermarket parts/assemblies
  • Design, implement and assist with testing and/or develop of test rigs to validate feasibility of aftermarket parts/components
  • Document designs for product support and efficient development of successive product generations
    Generates BOMs for new products and/or sub-assemblies or options
  • Interface effectively when required with customers to ensure implementation success
  • Interface with other company departments to ensure effective communication for all activities
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements and/or cost reductions
  • Proficient in design and disciplined as far as practicing drafting standards
  • Test and evaluates equipment to recommend design improvements
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
  • Comply wit all applicable OHSA, ESA, and other provincial regulatory laws, as well as company safety policies
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership team

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of product design experience in the manufacturing of consumer goods
  • Proven experience with Inventory/AutoCAD or other CAD packages
  • Must have ability to interpret specifications, recommend design improvements, and execute process improvements
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, organizational, training, and PC skills are required
  • Must work effectively under pressure, be highly motivated, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality
  • Minimal travel required with limited notice to identify and assist with field equipment problems or other related engineering activities

Physical Requirements:

  • Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods
  • Intermittently lift light to medium weight up to 50 lbs.
  • May perform duties requiring employee to intermittently bend and twist

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000/ annually
