Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize and direct the execution of prescribed Design/Modification capital and OM&A projects. Obtain resources, execute, and control all aspects of assigned projects following Project Management Manual Guidelines including the preparation of project execution plans, project schedule, project budget, and resource problems. Manage the design, installation and commissioning activities of assigned projects. Ensure team members understand and utilize approved project management processes. Resolve issues and problems to ensure that project deliverables are achieved as per plan, and that any changes to scope or plan are managed and approved.
  • To plan, organize and direct the execution of prescribed Design/Modification capital and OM&A projects meeting safety, performance and quality requirements within budget and schedule commitments.
  • Develop, plan, organize, obtain resources and/or resource commitments, execute, and control all aspects of assigned projects following Project Management Manual Guidelines including the preparation of Project Execution Plans, project schedule, project budget, and resource problems.
  • Manage the design, installation and commissioning activities of assigned projects ensuring all project objectives and commitments are controlled and delivered within targets of safety, quality, budget and schedule.
  • Ensure team members understand and utilize approved project management processes.
  • Support Committing Authority in the development of concept options, preparation of business case summaries, project charter and coordination of activities in support of obtaining project funding.
  • Liaise with the Committing Authority to ensure that scope and requirements are clearly defined and that format change request procedures are followed.
  • Maximize the effectiveness of the team in establishing and communicating clear expectations regarding roles, accountabilities and conduct of team members.
  • Ensure that all activities required to achieve project deliverables are in compliance with all station change control, QA, OP&P, safety and other pertinent procedures.
  • Resolve issues and problems, as necessary to ensure that project deliverables are achieved as per plan, and that any changes to scope or plan are managed and approved.

Qualifications:
Requires knowledge of business administration, management theory and organizations to be able to effectively understand the group dynamics and interrelationships of the organizations coordinated to carry out the accountabilities of engineering projects. Requires a good knowledge of English in terms of both oral and written communication skills to understand and apply policies, practices, governing document frameworks, etc, and convey same to others in an effective manner. Requires knowledge of technical writing to review and approve engineering standards and reports clearly and concisely. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training.
Requires experience in project management and all aspects of engineering management processes. Requires experience to comprehend, interpret and apply Operating Policies and Principles, administrative policies and procedures, radiation protection policies, practices and standards affiliated with related project design. Requires experience to be able to provide functional advice and guidance and interpretations of engineering programs, standards and procedures. Requires experience with the supervisory aspects of the position. A period of over 8 years and up to and including 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
