Apex Geomatics has an exciting opportunity for a Senior CAD Technician to join our operations, in the action on-site! This position is Fly In / Fly Out with excellent camp accommodations and flights provided.
In this role, the CAD Technician will provide expert drafting support to our construction surveying operations on a major industrial project. They will work closely with our on-site supervision and will be the recipient of responsive, seasoned CAD Management support from our Operations group. Responsibilities:
- Interpretation of field notes, client drawings, and other background data to create accurate drawings and final deliverables.
- Maintain strong lines of communication with field crews, supervision and project management.
- Utilization of Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center (TBC).
- Create stakeout files (DXF, CSV, and TTM).
- Create and manage volumetric surfaces.
- Maintain the file and data storage system to the required standards.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide information as required.
- Full compliance and active participation in the Apex Health and Safety Program.
- As a representative of Apex, you are to conduct yourself with a professional, cordial attitude.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Capabilities and Qualifications:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering or Geomatics Technology is preferred.
- 5+ years of construction survey drafting preferred.
- Extensive experience working with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and TBC.
- Working knowledge of complex construction drawings in various formats from engineers and architects within the industrial energy sector.
- Highly skilled with regard to grading design and 3D modelling software.
- Ability to process orthomosaics and large point clouds an asset.
- Technical competence and a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with team members.
