ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators at Unit 3 and 4 and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power's Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power's CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has signed a long-term Preferred Supplier Agreement for steam generator replacements at the plant's remaining units as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Quality Inspector, Mechanical, is responsible for the performance of all quality functions and duties as related to the SGRT construction activities. The position reports to the Project Quality Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the execution of the Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Perform quality inspection in accordance with the project's quality program, the related codes and customer specifications. Such inspections shall include but not be limited to:
    • Dimensional inspections.
    • Visual welding inspection.
    • Work in assorted respirators (clean shaven as required) and plastics (as required).

  • Participate in the execution of the required inspections as outlined in the Construction and Inspection Test Plans.
  • Review of Certified Material Test Reports as required.
  • Perform internal weld monitoring as required.
  • Complete all associated documentation and forms for individual inspections.
  • Writing and tracking of non-conformance reports and corrective/preventative action requests.
  • Support site QC activities associated with the project requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Graduate secondary school education in welding technology, QA/QC or a related discipline at the University or College level.
  • CWB Level 2 Visual Weld inspection required.
  • Knowledgeable in ASME Code, B&PV plus Nuclear, CWB experience, and other Technical Standards and Codes associated with the project.
  • Computer literate in MS Office.
  • Previous experience in receiving inspections and controls within a Nuclear Qualified Program would be considered an asset.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to effectively interact with people at all levels of the organization with view to implementing quality requirements and objectives.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Our background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education, and other pertinent information. Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred.
