Reporting to the Associate Executive Director or delegate, the Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the day to day operation of St. Michael's Homes through the execution of routine facility inspections, repairs, and building maintenance activities.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Casual Maintenance Worker assists the Facilities Technician with the execution of routine facility inspections, repairs, and building maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

· Facilitates and/or performs cleaning, refuse removal, and room setup
· Helps with preventative maintenance and minor repairs on facilities including plastering and painting, plumbing, electrical work, and repairs to windows and doors
· Handling and transporting materials around the site and between sites
· Following instructions from supervisors to perform manual labour tasks
· Assisting skilled labourers on site
· Use of basic hand tools

·Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

· Awareness and appreciation of client needs specific to the substance use, substance dependency and mental health field
· One (1) year of direct work experience in facilities maintenance
· Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) certification
· First Aid, CPR, and/or other certificates are considered assets

Working Conditions

· Ability to stand or walk for long periods of the day.
· Ability to lift at least 50 lbs / 23 kg
