Job Title: Plant Manager - Food ManufacturingJob ID: SP57193352Location: Souris, PEOverview:The Quality Assurance/Plant Manager ensures that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. This individual is responsible for managing the organizations quality assurance policies and controlling new product development processes. The QA/Plant Manager will also establish performance standards, procedures, and audit controls in order to meet business requirements, as well as Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company operations ensuring that mistakes or defects in manufactured products and problems are avoided when delivering solutions or services to customers. You will also take samples of product during daily processing and packing and analyze versus defined specifications, records results either on paper or on the computer. You will be managing all aspects of production is essential as well as staff hiring and directing, to keep the efficiency and quality at a high level. What you will be doing:
  • Provide leadership developing and directing QA and quality improvement initiatives for all company products and services.
  • Monitor QA systems and advise executive team on system performance; publish statistics regarding performance against set goals.
  • Perform gap analysis between applicable and current ISO standards; establish and implement a quality plan to bring the company into ISO compliance.
  • Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with client-facing QA representatives to ensure full customer satisfaction with the company's products and services.
  • Establish and maintain a QA program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
  • Conduct risk analyses, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews, as applicable.
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement and by integrating quality control tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) into processes.
  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
  • Act as liaison with customer auditors and assume responsibility for ensuring corrective actions with customer specifications.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
  • Persuade staff to adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.
  • Create and maintain QA control documentation.
  • Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of company profitability, including budgetary control issues.
  • Obtain all Certifications required to expand the business (ie: GFSI, Organic, Celiac, Non-GMO, Etc.)
  • Knows the USDA, and Canadian potato grading specification and the grading methodology used to establish the final grade of frozen organic potato products
  • Takes samples of frozen organic potato by the method and schedule in the SOP
  • Calibrates lab equipment used in the grading laboratory per SOP
  • Keeps the lab grading area and utensils clean and sanitized
  • Disposes properly of waste materials generated in lab
  • Must be trained to also do 30 lb. case inspections
  • Identifies gross defects in potatoes
  • Maintains clean and sanitary gloved hands during inspections
  • Inspects total contents of cases of organic potato in a timely manner and notes gross defects found on form.
  • Replaces fries into case after inspection
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What you must have:
  • University Degree, Community College, Technical diploma, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience driving efficiency and accountability in a unionized environment
  • Ability to pull information from various resources, analyze, and make decisions based on data
  • Must be able to present information effectively and accurately
  • Understanding of customer expectations and a willingness to exceed these expectations
  • Clear understanding of and dedication to meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team
  • Strong computer skills
